2004 Cadillac SRX
Date in fleet: Feb. 25-March 3 As-tested price: $48,975 Powertrain: 3.6-liter V6; awd, five-speed automatic Output: 260 hp @ 6500 rpm, 255 lb-ft @ 3200 rpm Curb weight: 4320 pounds
HART: A couple of things surprised me: The interior is lifted right out of the CTS, which I guess makes sense; and the plastics look and feel good, although I don't like the multitude of textures used throughout. The car is also exceptionally quiet on the highway. You just float along, with barely any wind noise-surprising given its expansive sunroof. The car feels solid, the doors close with a nice thunk, and there are no squeaks or rattles. And even though it has awd and the ride height is a bit higher than a sedan, I still had the feeling of driving a car, not a truck. That's a good thing. Biggest complaint: When you have to really get into the throttle, the engine gets buzzy and very un-Cadillac-like.
