Saturn's Solstice okayed
General Motors' Saturn division will get its own version of a low-cost Kappa-platform rear-drive small sports car- the same chassis under the approved Pontiac Solstice roadster coming to market in fall 2005 as an '06 model.
GM officials say the Saturn Kappa car won't be the Saturn Curve 2+2 coupe unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January (AW, Feb. 2), but beyond that the company isn't saying much about the car. Our sources, however, say GM higher-ups would love to find a home for the sharply styled Vauxhall VX Lightning, the Kappa-based roadster GM built in honor of its British subsidiary's 100th anniversary last May.
Veyron slower, and now later
On the heels of news that Bugatti plans to rein in the top speed of its 16.4 Veyron supercar to 218 mph (down from 252 mph) due to high-speed stability problems (AW, March 1), now comes word that we'll have to wait even longer for the launch of the troubled two-seater. Originally planned for production in July 2003 ...
