In the early morning of January 6, Michael Spearman was awakened by strange noises within his home in north Autauga County, Alabama. Armed with a .357-caliber revolver, he went to investigate and found two men rifling through his gun cabinet.
When one of the burglars, Eugene Davis, made a move toward Spearman, the homeowner fired a shot but missed. Davis ran from the residence and scurried into the surrounding woods. Spearman held the other interloper, Roderick Bagbe, at gun-point until sheriff's deputies arrived to make the arrest.
