Words cannot express my appreciation for Jodie Gilmore's article on Dr. George Washington Carver ("Man of Science--and of God," January 26 issue). Each year for as far back as there has been a "Black History Month" I have waited patiently for this fabulous man to be placed upon the pedestal he so justly deserves and be given his rightful place in American history along with other great Americans.
Yet every year he is sadly ignored by those whose lives he affected the most. Why is this so? How can we almost completely ignore his enormous contribution to our daily lives and relegate him to near obscurity? What a shame. An even greater question is why his own race chose ...
