FMC Technologies has announced that its FMC Airport Systems business has acquired the RampSnake baggage loading system product line from SAS, the parent company of Scandinavian Airlines. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The RampSnake system's ground-based, automated baggage loader primarily services narrow-body aircraft and has the potential to speed up loading and unloading operations by approximately 50% compared to conventional methods. This system also serves as a mobile, airside sorting device for transfer, rush, priority and odd-sized bags.
