CSC sues feds in Title IX dispute.(Newsroom)(cases of men's sports associations)
In another move to protect men's sports from the effects of the Title IX law, a coalition of men's sports associations have filed a federal lawsuit against the General Accounting Office, alleging that the GAO inaccurately reported the number of men's sports teams that have declined since Title IX was enforced in the 1980s. The lawsuit is pending in federal court in Washington, D.C.
Title IX is a federal law that seeks to provide equal opportunities for women and men in collegiate and high school athletics. While the law has had a direct effect on increasing the number of women's sports nationwide, the men argue that the law has forced schools to eliminate their sporting opportunities.
