In theory, the NASCAR playoff format should pave the way for a dramatic finale. But only time will tell if it actually boosts the excitement or becomes just a miscalculated marketing gimmick.
The playoff championship scenario could be avoided by awarding more points for a win. If some of the high-profile teams don't make the cut this year, things will have to change.
