The Army's FY '05 budget request of $98.5 billion includes $20.8 billion for procurement and research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) and includes $3.2 billion for its largest program, the Future Combat Systems (FCS).
The Army's total budget request of $98.5 billion is a $2.7 billion increase over the FY '04 request, showing a small but steady increase over the past three fiscal years, with a $91 billion request in FY '03 and $93.9 billion request in FY '04 according to budget documents. The $10.4 billion procurement request is $400,000 less than in FY '04, while the $10.4 billion RDT&E is $1.3 billion more than requested in FY '04.
