It may be no surprise that, after years of claiming that shareholders come first, there is a dramatic lack of trust in corporations. Research across 46 countries, carried out for the World Economic Forum's Davos meeting, found there are more people with "little or no trust" in big corporations than there are with "a lot or some trust". This has caused a lot of soul searching, but tends to obscure the fact that people may make general statements in one direction, but say the opposite for individual cases. For example, UK research found people do not trust politicians in general, but they trust their local MP, or they do not trust multinationals, but they do trust Nestle. …
