Not everyone is comfortable with the relentless march of technology, yet for every two Americans who are low-tech, there is one American who loves technology. These people are enthusiastic users of wireless Internet, DVDs, PDAs and mobile phones and are seen as the trendsetting elite. For the 69% who are low tech, it is mainly because they do not have the interest, time or money.

The high tech group is made up of three main segments: 20% young tech elites (around 22, male), 20% older wired baby boomers (around 52, male) and 60% wired Gen Xers (around 36, both genders). They set the course that others follow and, while the majority are not in this elite, they are said …
