Lawmakers in New Mexico have passed two bills that will toughen penalties for drunken driving and supplying youth with alcohol, the Associated Press reported. One bill would make it a fourth-degree felony to supply alcohol to minors. Under the bill, anyone convicted of giving alcohol to someone under age 21 could face up to 18 months in prison. Currently people who give alcohol to minors are punished with fines, community service and up to five days in jail.
