The cars we'd all buy if we could all buy cars
As fun as the Roadmaster was to drive, it was merely the most recent addition to the Big Dog Garage. Before our drive, Jay Leno took us through several concrete buildings that house his collection.
We started in the shop, a big warehouse where all the restoration and maintenance is done. At each stop, Leno dispensed knowledge and intricate details about the history and mechanics of each car. He knows more about his cars than any collector we have ever met. And he is happy to share. Here are some highlights, since to do the whole collection would take a book. It would be a good book, but this is just a magazine:
First, the turbine-powered motorcycle. Yes, turbine-powered motorcycle.
"It's just, it's a jet. It's like, frightening to drive, but it's fun at the same time. It's just hilarious.''
Next is an Owens Magnetic.
"It's kind of an early hybrid.''
