Sepracor soars on insomnia drug
The drug firm got conditional FDA approval for Estorra. The U.S. will give final clearance after Sepracor meets undisclosed conditions, but it will not require more drug testing, thus speeding final approval. Sepracor plans to roll out the fast-acting anti-insomnia drug by mid-'04. It will compete against Sanofi's Ambien and King's Sonata for the $1.5 bil market, which has seen 25% growth the past two years. Shares shot up 57% to 44.30.
