Semiconductor sales up 26.6%
Worldwide sales of the chip components were propelled by Chinese demand, said the Semiconductor Industry Association. Sales rose to $15.5 bil in Jan., up from $12.28 bil in the year-ago period, led by a 34% increase in Asia to $6.07 bil. The group expects '04 sales to grow 19% from the year-ago period, thanks to demand in end markets like cell phones and IT upgrades.
Microsoft, eBay link on uploads
In an effort to make it easier for high-volume sellers on eBay's online auction site to manage their products, the software giant will provide parts of its Office software to eBay users. They'll be able to use the Excel spreadsheet program to upload info on items for sale, track ongoing auctions and collect historical data. Also, Microsoft will link its Frontpage Web site-making program with eBay's data services.
