2004 MAR 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The Partnership for a Drug-Free America has created a feature on its Web site, www.drugfreeamerica.org/dxm, to provide parents and other caregivers with information and resources regarding teen abuse of dextromethorphan (DXM), a cough suppressant ingredient found in many over-the-counter cough medications.
A free brochure, "A Parent's Guide to Preventing Teen Cough Medicine Abuse," also is available for download at the site or by calling (202) 429-3529. The information was developed with support from the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), the trade association representing the manufacturers and distributors of over-the-counter medicines, including cough and cold medicines.
