A woman who operated a home day care center died this morning, apparently killed by smoke inhalation while trying to escape her burning house in Taylor Ranch.
Firefighters found her body just inside the front door of a house in the 6900 block of Rustler Road Northwest, Lt. Lynn Reule of the Albuquerque Fire Department said.
Hours after the pre-dawn fire, Jackie Londono stood outside the ruined house trying to piece together the events that killed her sister, 66-year-old Gladys M. Londono.
Jackie Londono, 38, said her sister lived alone and looked after children in her home.
