Getting Inside the Bush White House.(Brief Article)

Few U.S. administrations have earned as strong a reputation for secrecy as that of President George W. Bush. It must have been all the more painful, then, when former Wall Street Journal reporter Ron Suskind released his tell-all book "The Price of Loyalty" (348 pages. Simon & Schuster ) last month. The book portrays a White House where political aims trump real data and ideological advisers make key decisions. Former Bush Treasury secretary Paul O'Neill not only sat for hours of interviews--describing Bush as "a blind man in a roomful of deaf people"--but also handed Suskind CD-ROMs containing every single document that crossed his desk during his two-year tenure. (The Bush Administration has launched an investigation into whether O'Neill released classified material. So far it has found no wrongdoing.)
