In our opinion, the flat market-place in which we will be operating in 1991 increases the need for finding solutions to some of the industry problems. Finding these solutions will be the key to the success of tire dealers, retreaders and new tire manufacturers.
Our forecast for 1991 shows a slight decrease (-1 percent) in total tire sales including both replacement and OE. However, the tire repair segment of the industry will have grown approximately 2 percent during 1990, and we would not expect any significant change from that rate during 1991. We will also examine the reasons why growth potential is larger in the tire repair segment of the industry.
