With Phoenix the site of several big collector car auctions each January-Barrett-Jackson, RM, Kruse, Russo & Steele-excitement in the area runs high. But this year, an auction held a couple of days before the Barrett-Jackson event, in a once-abandoned but now suddenly crowded Kmart store, provided a highlight all its own, and more than a little irony.
