Frank Kimmel breezed through last year's Auto- mobile Racing Club of America season like George W. Bush will breeze through this summer's Republican National Convention. Nobody laid a glove on Kimmel (above) as he won seven of the 22 races and the champion- ship by 675 points over winless Jason Jarrett, Dale Jarrett's son. It was a series-record fourth straight ReMax title and a series-record fifth overall for "One-L.''
Teenager Shelby Howard won three times and was third in points, 455 behind Jarrett, but 40 ahead of winless Brent Sherman and 70 ahead of winless Billy Venturini. In fact, sixth-ranked Mark Gibson was the only other full-schedule driver with a win (one). Bill Eversole, Christi Passmore, Ron Cox and Todd Bowsher rounded out the top-10, light-years behind Kimmel.
