2004 Mercedes-Benz E500 4Matic wagon

HART: You could make a good argument the E-Class is the best midsize luxury sedan available. BMW 5 Series fans may disagree, but for me the E fills most needs and wants. And the wagon makes it that much more useable.
The 5.0-liter V8 is a sweetie, and while this option jacks up the price substantially from the E320, it's worth it. Add the wagon (available only with 4Matic) and you're carrying around about 300 pounds more than the sedan. Fuel mileage suffers, but again, the wagon is handsome and the added utility is worth it.
Thankfully, M-B seems to have figured out that the old COMAND center thing was way too complicated. With buttons located around the nav screen, the new system is a bit more intuitive. At least I no longer find myself screaming at the thing. Definite progress.
My only hesitation in recommending this car is our experience with the long-term C320 sport wagon, another car I really liked. But with the build quality/service problems we had with the C, I wonder if that carries over to the E.
