Jag rocket
Jaguar and its Rocketsports Racing partner will show a 550-hp XK-RS concept at the Chicago auto show. Jag says the car will be the most powerful road-going Jag convertible ever built. The XK-RS is propelled by a stroked 5.0-liter version of the 4.5-liter Jaguar AJ-V8 Trans-Am racing engine.
Jag says the supercharged engine should push the 3400-pound car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and take it to a top speed of 200 mph. The company has no production plans for the concept.
AEM buys DC Sports
In the sport compact tuner world, this is as big a deal as the Daimler-Chrysler merger. Advanced Engine Manage-ment Inc. (AEM) bought DC Sports Inc. in January, merging the intake specialist guys (AEM) with the header guys (DC) to create a complete airflow company for the import scene.
DC Sports (AW, Oct. 29, 2001) is best known for making headers and exhausts for Hondas, and AEM is best known for its cold-air intakes for Hondas and other makes. Both companies have a wider product range than just that, of course, and both have been expanding recently. Merger talks began in September.
