Mydoom takes aim at Microsoft
The Internet worm forced SCO Group's Web site offline Sunday, and now Microsoft is preparing for a similar Internet-based data assault Tuesday. The 2 firms are each offering $250,000 bounties on the worm's author. SCO shut down its site in lieu of fighting the worm. Microsoft, which is targeted by a less widely spread strain of the worm, said it was prepared for the attack.
Agilysys profit buoyed by buyout
The computer systems reseller made 28 cents a share in Q3 '04, beating views by a penny and quadrupling its year-ago quarter. Sales rose 22% to $459.4 mil; its Kyrus acquisition added $29.7 mil to sales. Agilysys plans to buy Inter-American Data's assets for $36.5 mil, which will help '04 earnings. It forecast 22-24 cents a share in '04. Shares rose 1% to 13.23.
Take-Two holiday sales fall short
The Grand Theft Auto game maker cut its Q1 earnings forecast from $1.10 a share to 70 cents, citing slow holiday sales, bad debt from toy retailers like KB Toys, and changes in accounting procedures. Views see $1.10 a share. ...
