HUMAN RESOURCES
Jobless Recovery?
The job market's picking up to match the better economy. But job seekers be warned: It's still pretty competitive out there.
Human resources consulting firm Thomson DBM says workers should aggressively follow up job leads in the first quarter, since after the holidays is when firms typically start to open up opportunities.
DBM recently released the results of its Workforce Predictions Survey for 2004. Findings include:
** 51% of human resources professionals surveyed plan to moderately to greatly boost hiring activity in 2004 -- a 35% increase over 2003.
** 52% of those surveyed (the same percentage as last year) noted their companies were planning an organizational change this year.
