Lindows will give away software
The Linux open source software seller will offer its LindowLive! operating system over peer-to-peer networks rather than selling it for $29.95 on CD or over the Internet. "No, we haven't lost our minds," wrote CEO Michael Robertson on the firm's Web site. Lindows.com hopes to reduce costs by lowering the bandwidth charges incurred by delivering CD images of its software over the Web, and by exposing more customers to its products.
