ST. Louis -- Anal physiologic testing in patients with fecal incontinence is of greatest value for those who have failed medical or surgical treatment, Dr. Wayne B. Tuckson said at the 13th International Pelvic Reconstructive and Vaginal Surgery Conference.
Studies suggest that physiologic tests are more accurate than medical history and physical examination alone, but they only alter the treatment as planned on the basis of history and physical exam in 10%-20% of cases.
