Vast views on the Vette

The first thing I did when I saw the photo spread of the new C6 Corvette (Cover Story, Jan. 5) was show it to my mother. "Wow, a Corvette,'' is the first thing she said. Congratulations, Chevrolet, on producing such a beautiful vehicle that is instantly recognizable even by a 54-year-old nurse. Four-hundred horsepower, great gas mileage, removable hardtop and a reasonable price: Sign me up!

Colin Pierce, St. Paul, Minn.

As a die-hard Ford guy, it's hard to admit the '05 C6 Corvette hits the mark. And with that huge grin carved into the front end, I'm looking forward to taking one out for an extended thrash. I'm sure the smiling reaction from the driver's seat will be equal, if not greater. This is the first Vette since the '60s to get my undivided attention.

Bob Laing, Novi, Mich.

When I was a kid growing up in the '50s, I thought cars had faces. I've missed that on new cars. But one look at the Jerry Lewis snout on that '05 Corvette brought it all back. Thanks for starting my New Year with a laugh.
