China's Distribution System
Since the economic reform in 1978, China has made great progress in changing its rigid distribution system, which was based on bureaucratic layers of central and local governments. In order to help decentralize state-owned enterprises, most of state-owned distributors were eliminated. The Chinese government places a strong emphasis on the manufacturer-to-end-user distribution system. Manufacturers are permitted to engage directly in marketing and sales of their products, and companies are allowed to sell their products or services to any customers anywhere in China.
