Devil with a blue dress
Here's more conjecture as to the advent of the Blue Devil name (News, Dec. 22) for a higher-performance version of the C6 Vette. GM CEO Rick Wagoner did his undergraduate work and played basketball for Duke University, making him the ultimate Blue Devil.
John C. Jordan, Grand Blanc, Mich.
Editor's note: So what are you saying, Jordan, that the GM engineers working on Blue Devil are just sucking up to the boss?
A matter of taste
The more I look at the spy photos of the coming C6 Corvette (AW, Dec. 22), the more I think GM blew it. Instead of something really new and exciting (remember the visual impact of the Sting Ray in '63?), this update of the C5 shape is a real disappointment. After teasing us with wonderful styling concepts like the Cadillac Sixteen, the new C6 looks mundane- like most of the General's other products, including the new GTO. The C6 might be a better car in every other way, but I doubt Bill Mitchell would have approved.
