To be at the table where,policy decisions are made-that is Jacki McKinneys goal these days. A longtime proponent of the rights and recovery of people with mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders, McKinney has tirelessly helped an assortment of folks to find their voices: people of color; women in jail; people in the mental health community who lack formal education and training.

She co-founded the National People of Color Consumer/Survivor Network, and in 1999 coordinated the first People of Color Conference held at Alternatives, a national summit for people with mental illness.
