For a basic phone with excellent voice quality, consider the four CR Best Buys: the Panasonic KX-TC1484B, Uniden EXI 376 HS, GE 26938GE1, and Bell South MH9111SL. These are excellent choices for people who don't want a feature-laden phone. If you need a phone-answerer, you can find several very good models for under $100.
