2004 JAN 7 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Cigna HealthCare announced that it is extending its flu vaccine coverage to include recently U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved intranasal influenza vaccines (such as FluMist) for healthy people ages 5-49.
"Given the shortage of flu vaccine and in view of the emerging health threat to healthy individuals, Cigna HealthCare will temporarily cover intranasally administered live attenuated vaccine under existing benefit plans for the remainder of the current flu season," said Allen Schaffer, chief medical officer for Cigna HealthCare.
