2004 JAN 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Maxim Pharmaceuticals (MAXM) announced the exclusive license of its MX90745 series of apoptosis-inducing compounds for the treatment of cancer to Myriad Genetics, Inc.
Compounds in the MX90745 series, specifically the current lead compound MX128495, have shown potency in the low nanomolar range in preclinical testing in multiple cancer types including prostate cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, melanoma, and leukemia. The MX90745 series is one of more than 40 compound families identified by Maxim through its proprietary caspase-based, high-throughput screening system that targets the identification of compounds that modulate programmed cell death, or apoptosis.
"We are pleased to partner with Myriad on the development of MX128495, a compound that we believe has the potential to advance into human clinical trials in the near future," said Larry G. Stambaugh, Maxim's chairman and CEO. "We are impressed by Myriad's leadership in the development of its drug candidate R-flurbiprofen (MPC-7869) and the marketing of its predictive medicine tests."
"These novel and promising compounds are an excellent complement to Myriad's cancer therapeutic development programs," said ...
