2004 JAN 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer alter estrogen-receptor signaling differently than tamoxifen, researchers say.
According to a study from England, "Endocrine therapy with tamoxifen has been the mainstay of treatment for hormone-sensitive breast cancer for more than 20 years.
"An alternative strategy of estrogen deprivation in postmenopausal women with aromatase inhibitors is set to replace tamoxifen based on better efficacy and a delay in the emergence of endocrine resistance," wrote S.R.D. Johnston and colleagues, Royal Marsden Hospital, Breast Unit.
