2004 JAN 2 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A new study concludes that in women 30 and older, the HPV (human papillomavirus) DNA test is more effective than the Pap smear alone in identifying women with cervical cancer or its precursors.
Investigators say the results of the study of 11,085 women should facilitate earlier treatment, while allowing others to avoid unnecessary, invasive follow-up procedures.
