BAT Cigarettenfabriken (Germany) - Growth Holds Good

Population increase and an influx of consumers from Germany's eastern states during the unification period maintained growth in sales for BAT Cigarettenfabriken during 1990. Compared to 1989, volume was up by 3.3% in the West German cigarette market, a 121.4 billion unit tobacco sector of which the company took a 21.1% share. The company believes the positive trend stems from its marketing offensive launched, for existing and new brands, two years ago.
