HP is hoping it can tempt lightening to strike twice and get copiers to do for it what printers did.
It's fielded new high-end printers that double as copiers and scanners, so-called multifunction printers, the LaserJet 9055 and 9065 and HP 9085mfp.
HP wants to carve off a chunk of the $24-billion-a-year copier market to gild or maintain its printer business, which already provides the bulk of its profits.
It says it expects copiers to turn over $2 billion in revenues in three years.
