The first quarter living with our long-term Volvo saw the vehicle put to good use, both in everyday tasks and family road trips. Most found the XC90 to be a great vehicle for light hauling, from flats of plants to sports equipment and the like.
But a couple of people pointed out that the third row-which remains stowed flat in the floor most of the time-seems to cannibalize room from the second row. "Truth be told, the second row is cramped for leg-room," logged one driver. Anoth- er concurred: "The second row may be a little short on legroom due to sandwiching space for the third row in there.
"One thing everyone agrees on: the seats. "You can't beat those Volvo seats. This thing is perfect for a long trip when it comes to comfort," said one staffer. The best testament to the seats' quality came from one staff member who took the XC90 on a trip to Maine with her father, who suffers chronic back pain. "He had no complaints on comfort. The heal-ing power of the Volvo has shown itself!"
