Ralph Gilles knows a thing or two about changing directions and breaking molds. As director of design for DaimlerChrysler, Gilles' most recent assignment involved walking away from Chrysler's entrenched cab-forward front-wheel-drive lineage to design the company's future large cars, the rear-wheel-drive Chrysler 300C sedan and Dodge Magnum sportwagon due on the market this spring.
Gilles brought plenty of rear-wheel-drive experience to the project, having served as interior designer for one of Chrysler's most prominent rear-drivers ever, the Dodge Viper concept. His credits also include interior work on Dodge ESX2 and the Jeep Jeepster concepts, and the production interiors for the 2003 Viper and the 2002 Jeep Liberty.
