FDA approves procysteine for human clinical trials. (Clintec)

Clintec Nutrition Company, Deerfield, Illinois, announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin Phase I, controlled human clinical trials with Procysteine, a precursor of the naturally occurring amino acid, L -cysteine.

Procysteine stimulates the synthesis of glutathione, which is essential for maintaining normal cellular function. Glutathione has been shown to inhibit replication of HIV in cell culture.
