White Christmases become rarer

States that typically get snowfall are less likely to see flurries from Thanksgiving to Christmas, according to the Energy Dept.'s Oak Ridge National Lab. From '48 to '01, 197 of 260 weather stations have reported fewer snowy days. The drop was especially pronounced east of the Mississippi River. But snowy days have increased in Central Rocky Mountain states like Utah and east into the Central Plains.
