Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K., Mitsubishi Corporation and Shutoken CO-OP Consumers' Cooperative Union recently announced the launch of a public trial for Shell's gas to liquids (GTL) Transport Fuel in Japan.

According to Shell, the public trial involves the monitoring of two to three CO-OP delivery trucks powered by a blend of the GTL Transport Fuel and conventional diesel fuel.

Shell noted that GTL Transport Fuel, a "unique synthetic fuel derived from natural gas rather than crude oil" for use in diesel engines, offers "significantly lower vehicle emissions of pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides, ...
