The government of Manitoba recently announced that energy, science and technology minister Tim Sale has introduced legislation mandating that 85 percent of gasoline sold in the province be blended with 10 percent ethanol by 2005.
Officials said the Biofuels Act would also establish a "declining tax preference" that would average approximately 1.5 cents Canadian per liter of gasoline that is blended with 10 percent Manitoba-made ethanol, ending by 2013.
