A rift between the Albuquerque Board of Education and its superintendent grew as the board directed an outside law firm to review the legality of a contract for one of the superintendent's top administrators.
The board ordered Monday that the $105,000 annual contract making Tom Garrity the chief of staff for Superintendent Beth Everitt be reviewed by the Keleher Law Firm after the board's own attorney, Art Melendres, said he had a hand in crafting the contract.
