U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) secretary Ann Veneman recently called on the Senate to pass the Energy Policy Act of 2003, maintaining that the bill "offers increased opportunity for agricultural producers and for energy consumers who want renewable, domestically produced and environmentally friendly energy." Opponents of the bill last week defeated a motion to vote on the bill without continued debate.
