2003 DEC 4 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Scimagix Inc. announced that the Institute of Cancer Biology (part of the Danish Cancer Society) and Danish Centre for Translational Breast Cancer Research (DCTB) has selected Scimagix's Image Informatics software to assist in its breast cancer research efforts.
Researchers from the institute will use Scimagix's Scientific Image Management System (SIMS) to access valuable image data the same way alphanumeric data is indexed and mined. The integration of image and associated alphanumeric data will allow research decisions to be made faster while enhancing the quality and accuracy of those decisions.
The Institute of Cancer Biology believes that by leveraging technology such as SIMS they will be able to enhance and accelerate their research, hence increasing the probability of developing treatments for breast cancer.
"One of the unique challenges in our specific breast cancer research efforts was to integrate data and results from seven very different key techniques to arrive at a means of developing a single hypothesis," said Prof. Julio E. Celis, scientific director at the Institute of Cancer Biology and Coordinator of DCTB.
"SIMS is proving to be a perfect tool for us as it not only allows our researchers to integrate and manage our images; but also enables them to collaborate more efficiently within our ...
