Tears were shed in the City Council chambers Monday night and hugs were passed around.
It was a rare sight for a council that has been known more for acrimonious bickering than cooperation.
The occasion was a farewell for Council President Vince Griego, who is ending a 24-year career as a council member the longest served by any Albuquerque councilor.
