Bigger isn't necessarily prettier
Your photos of the latest Ferrari (Cover Story, Oct. 27) remind me that few auto designers understand the artistic merits of this marque's image. The Chrysler front appearance? A '47 Cadillac side view? Forgive me if I'm not impressed, but it looks like a direct turn away from Pininfarina's historical touch.

I have lusted after 360s and 575s, but the new Enzo made me a little wary of Ferrari's direction. My fears were confirmed with the new 612. Ferrari says it is paying homage to the past; I say it's taking a page from Chris Bangle and ruining a beautiful design. The late 456 was a gorgeous car. The new 612 looks like the child of a Panoz Esperante front (in side view), early Corvette side scallops and Porsche Carrera rims. I hope it looks better in real life.

The front looks like an RX-8 and the rest is just plain blah.
