American Express taps into teleconferencing market

There is a new competitor in the teleconferencing market - and it's not a telephone company.

American Express Information Services Corp. is offering conference calling services to compete with similar services provided by American Telephone & Telegraph, MCI and other national and regional telephone companies.

Information Services Corp., a unit of American Express, has tapped St. Louis as the headquarters of its teleconferencing operations. The St. Louis teleconferencing center, 1015 Corporate Square in Creve Coeur, opened here in February.
