Wippit, the UK-based independent download service, is reported to have signed its first repertoire deal with a major record label. EMI, allowing its users to download music by the likes of Coldplay, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.
Neither Wippit nor EMI would reveal details of the deal, but NMA understands that Wippit will have access to more than 90% of the label's repertoire and the service will be available before Christmas.
Wippit is still in discussions with other majors. They all have online agreements with OD2, which has a white-label service for most of the major portals.…
